Goggins himself said "don't do what I do". He knows that there is high risk in what he does. So I totally agree with the fact that everyone need to see things from their own perspective and be cautious. You were right to point that out. It needs to be said. It's a mindset and everyone has a different starting point. Also, achievements go in the cookie jar. What I believe Goggins meant by not having achieved anything before the first book was that it was his biggest cookie yet because it required of him to be very vulnerable. He talks about it briefly in his second book. He also talks about his cookies going stale, which might be what you are referring to. Surprising fact but people change and evolve I guess. Anyway, mad respect for you on the double 4x4x48! This is mighty impressive and I'm very tempted to attempt it in the future. I'm currently prepping for my first 4x4x48 in May and looking forward to the grind! Also planning on doing a fully sleep deprived 4x4x48 next year to prep for the 2024 Spartan Agoge which spans to 60 hours. Gotta fill my cookie jar too with fresh cookies.

Thanks Fergus for being the inspiration that you are. I've been really struggling with my mental health over the past few months and your approach to fitness and life in general have really helped me to restructure my life and to find some purpose. I completed the couch to 5k on new years eve 2022 and tomorrow I will complete a 10k run for the first time. For me the destination this year is to compete in a 5k, 10k, 1/2 and full marathons this year alongside doubling my 1rm in squat, deadlift and bench. I started at 17.5 stone and I've stableised at 15st and I've never felt better. I'm going to use my 2023 plan to raise money for men's health causes. Thanks again mate!

I have gone extended hours of little or no sleep doing shift work. I used to right a bike in my younger years. I cannot imagine the mindset to punish the body with 96 miles of running. Broken sleep / naps, and going out at night, when we should sleep, for one more run. This is human endurance at it very best.
Thank you for sharing, greatly appreciated

I did a relay 24 hour bike race. 4 racers per team. 3 hours between laps. That was tough, sleeping in a tent and un-prepared AF. Tiny head lamp, trying to bike an unknown track in the dark.

When I did this challenge probably six months earlier I just did a 50 miler so I really thought this was gonna be no big deal. I was shocked about how hard it was about constantly getting up going running, and it was probably almost twice as hard as a fifth of just running 50 miles straight it was great. It really change some things in me. Double thumbs up.

I'm a total beginner runner. Started up this past year. Nose breathing for most stuff and it's way less irritating on the lungs, especially during cold days. Give it a try. I hated running before this method. MAF inspired me to try that, it keeps your heart rate down. No pain running is another benefit. I hated running back in the day. I'm 40 now and can out run my 20 year self.

Feels so weird seeing footage of Edinburgh like this. I legit live about 0.5km from this guy; when I saw the opening shot I was like ‘that looks like those buildings next to the meadows’ and ofc the first shot of the montage is a birds-eye view of the meadows.

Congratulations on an awesome achievement! Were you honestly planning on running the same route EVERY TIME!? Ugh, I'd rather give up running all together than run the same route more than a few times in a row! 😂 Goggins is motivating and awe inspiring, but no one could accuse him of being healthy or well adjusted. 😅 Like you said, he took his own trauma and found a way to deal with it that worked for him. As an ultra runner, I see a lot of us channeling our inner demons into extreme forms of exercise, and I personally wouldn't have it any other way. It certainly makes for a full and interesting life! 😂
